So what does Marc Adamus LIE about, anyway? A primer for newcomers.

So what does Marc lie about, anyway?

Those of you who haven’t followed Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 (or 1.0), may be wondering exactly what our “grievances” are. What has Marc Adamus lied about? Here’s a couple things, to start off with:

1.     Marc Adamus LIES, especially by omission, about the amount of Photoshop used in the creation of his images.

Marc Adamus uses an enormous amount of Photoshop to create his images. There’s no use denying it, because Marc boasts about it himself, these days. Not publicly, on his website (as would be appropriate), but on private forums where he and his fans can have a good time celebrating Marc’s Photoshop “greatness”. Go to his website. There is nothing there about the huge amount of Photoshop used in his images. Just a terribly vague manifesto called “Photoshop in today’s age” (read my analysis of that here), that basically allows Marc to do anything he wants and admit nothing.

2.     Marc Adamus has falsely crowned himself as the finest landscape photographer alive.

Marc Adamus has repeatedly made claims such as “Marc has been acclaimed as one of the most talented artists of his generation” or “he is arguably the most talented photographer working today”. Both these statements, and any similar ones, are utterly, 100% false. If Marc was that good, don’t you think he’d have the following:

-Art hanging in major galleries (Marc has no images in ANY galleries)
-Reviews in major newspapers (Marc has never been reviewed by any major newspaper)
-Reviews by art critics (Marc’s work has never been reviewed by any critics)
-Books written entirely by Marc Adamus (Marc has never written a book, despite repeated promises to do so)

That being said, what are the sources of Marc’s claims, then? Simple. Ignorant losers on online forums and “critiquing” sites such as photo.net. These losers don’t care about Marc, except that they want to be like Marc and share in his “fame”. One of these imbeciles writes “Marc, you are the best that has ever been or ever will be!”, and Marc scurries off and writes filthy lies about him being the best ever.

3.     Marc Adamus LIES about his so-called adventures.

Marc Adamus has repeatedly claimed incredible adventures in the backcountry, replete with ridiculous claims of many miles of off-trail travel, photographing in an glacier cave while dodging falling chunks of ice the size of cars, or canoeing upstream on a raging river. Needless to say, none of these “adventures” have ever been documented in any manner, except by Marc’s lying pen. How convenient. What about the real adventure stories, such as those you read about in Outside magazine? Fully verified by photography, video, or other individuals, of course. Marc Adamus stretches the truth and simply invents many things, so he can’t afford to have outside verification.

4.     Marc Adamus claims to be a full-time professional photographer, when in fact he makes almost all his money by teaching photo tours & workshops to his swooning fanbase.

Workshops and photo tours are SCAMS. Real photographers sell images, not teach others how to “take” images. Those who can’t do, teach. You will note that all professional photography associations of any importance require their members to make 100% of their income from actual photography. Workshops don’t count. That’s why the self-crowned “best photographer in the world” is not a member of Canon or Nikon Professional Services. Neither is he a member of Canon “Explorers of Light”, a group of photographers considered to be some of the finest Canon-using landscape photographers.

5.     Marc Adamus spreads all the above LIES profusely all over the Internet.

Marc Adamus is busily spreading all the LIES I’ve covered above all over the Internet, in an attempt to influence his online image and create his own reality. Everywhere you find a bogus “interview” of Marc Adamus, or a podcast, or a brief bio, you will find LIES such as “Marc has been acclaimed as one of the most talented landscape artists of his generation.” Marc thinks that if he spreads these LIES around continuously, they will drown the negative truth about him and create a false persona that the whole world will believe.

What has Marc Adamus EVER done for Wilderness? Not a single damn thing!!!

What has Marc Adamus ever done for wilderness?

You will often hear about Marc Adamus and wilderness. Wilderness, wilderness, wilderness. Marc like repeating that word. In fact, his website says, at the very top, “unforgettable wilderness photography”. And in his bio, he spews “we NEED wilderness.” I assume all this emphasis on “wilderness” is supposed to tell us Small People that worrying about our jobs or family is for the petty and ignorant. Real Men, who are 5’6” like Marc Adamus, are always worrying about Wilderness. Except, is this true?

What has Marc Adamus ever done for Wilderness?
Nothing! Not a single thing!

Commercial Fine Art is merely Marc Adamus' latest attempt to be famous.

Here are some of the things, however, that Marc has done to damage wilderness or nature:

1. Encouraged uncaring, vain LOSERS to trample sensitive ground in the Columbia River Gorge NSA while taking “workshops” or “photo tours” and desperately hoping to copy Marc Adamus images. One only need view the preferred shooting location at Elowah Falls to see the great deal of damage hordes of SCUM have caused in their desire to copy Marc.

2. Trampled sovereign Indian land because of his desire (in his own words) to camp in pristine, unprepared areas. (See Marc’s manifesto, One Way to Photograph North America, for this).

3. Encouraged the same vain LOSERS to trample other wild or natural areas in their vain attempts to copy Marc Adamus and become “famous” on the Internet.

4. Neglected to teach same THUGS & MORONS anything about photographic or wilderness ethics, mostly because he has none himself. Wilderness and nature deserves respect and care. The cattle-like hordes that follow Marc around don’t give a shit about sensitive wildflowers or meadows. All they care about is copying Marc’s images, and then, hopefully becoming Famous.

Marc Adamus is a fame whore. His own statements, like this one, just prove it over, and over again.

What does a person who actually believes in Wilderness do? Say, Art Wolfe:

1.     Writes about industry’s impact on nature & wilderness in newspapers, online, and in books. Lobbies for protection for wild areas currently not closed to development or exploitation.

2.     Speaks at Wilderness Congresses and to legislators.

3.     Donates time & money to wilderness-preserving causes.

4.     Writes books about sensitive areas around the world.

Has Marc done a single one of these things? NO! Instead, he has trumpeted his own greatness and celebrated himself (NOT wilderness) on various online venues, spreading LIES and FRAUD to make himself appear to be a Really Big Photographer. To satisfy his own lust, he and his THUGS selflishly trample on meadows that were only preserved by the hard work of others. Marc Adamus has never done anything, anything for wilderness! And he never will. He’s a vain prick who’s obsessed with his own greatness. Probably spends all day long masturbating to his own visage in the mirror.

What is the point I’m trying to drive home with this post? Never believe anything Marc Adamus says. He’s a selfish, self-serving psychopath who wants to be famous. Nothing less and nothing more. Anyone who’s a “fan” is merely being used to achieve Marc’s aims. No one will gain anything from copying Marc’s images or taking five or his workshops. Ten years from now, they’ll look back on their foolishness and want to cry for wasting so much money on vain idiocy.

Furthermore, wilderness lovers don’t run around with tripods and heavy cameras, desperate for colorful sunsets to “share” with other idiots on Flickr or photo.net. They most often carry point & shoots to document their adventures, leaving the professional shooting to pros like Art, who isn’t going to backstab other photographers with $50 prints or 50 cent Istockphoto image licensing.

Marc Adamus' advice to those who want to be Big, Strong, and Famous!

Marc Adamus is a despicable psychopath who desperately desires to be famous for his own selfish lusts.

Marc Adamus is a despicable psychopath

Marc Adamus wants to be famous. Anyone who knows anything about Marc, and claims otherwise, is either profoundly ignorant or a lying shill. Here’s an example of Marc’s desire to be Famous:

Marc Adamus wants to be famous. He'll go to any length to achieve that; never forget it.

Why do I saying that wanting to be famous is a bad thing? Because in the desperate hunt for fame & glory, it can lead people to lie, cheat, steal, even kill. Most famous people didn’t become famous because they tried really hard to do so; they mostly stumbled into it.

Marc Adamus didn’t, and won’t, stumble into fame, so he fits in the former category: a liar, cheater, thief, who will do anything, no matter how low and depraved, to become famous. He’s spread lies such as “Marc is arguably one of the most talented photographers of his time”, and “Marc’s photographs have been published extensively worldwide in a large variety of media ranging from calendars, books, advertising and the publications of National Geographic, Outdoor Photographer, Popular Photography and many more”. Neither of these statements are true, but have been spread around the Internet by Marc in an attempt to mold the publics’ perception of him and make him appear to be famous (fake it until you make it).

Be aware of this. If you are a Marc Adamus fan who praises him on various venues around the Internet, you are just a tool that is being used to make Marc appear to be a really big thing. Marc doesn’t care about his fans. Not an iota. They’re just tools to further his goal of fame. You are never going to be “like Marc”, photograph or Photoshop “like Marc”, or attract the sort of useless, meaningless Internet praise that he does. Might as well save the thousands of dollars and go play ball with your kids or walk your dog.

Let this be clear. The economy is getting worse. Our economics experts have admitted this. Scum like Steve Sieren, Floris van Bruegel, Kevin Mcneal, or Adrian Klein will not be selling workshops when their idiot clients (The Miles Morgans out there) are losing their houses and jobs. Do you think anyone will care about Marc Adamus’ photo.net portfolio, his comments and critiques, or your comments & critiques when people are begging for food on the streets and getting their houses repossessed?
I’m not trying to paint a bleak picture here; I’m just trying to put this vanity and fame lust into perspective. In the bigger picture, being a tool of some Internet fame whore is going to look really ridiculous, in retrospect, ten years down the road. Take a step back. Read my “Do you really love photography” post and stop being an instrument for Marc Adamus’ quest for illegitimate fame.
