Several ways in which Marc Adamus damages the Photography Industry, part 1.

How Marc Adamus damages the photo industry, Pt1

Several ways in which Marc Adamus damages the Photography Industry, part 1.

INTRO:  Marc Adamus is the consummate liar. He is obsessed with being famous. He has said this; there is no contesting this fact. Since he has little real talent, he’s found financial rescue in teaching his fraud to other losers and liars through photo workshops and photo tours. This damages the photography industry in several ways, directly and indirectly. Here is part one of this long-term series:

1. Marc Adamus encourages Copyright violation. (otherwise known as theft)

Ever notice that many THUGS & LOSERS who like to bullshit about how passionate they are have nearly exact copies of Marc Adamus images? This is a direct violation of US and International Copyright Law, otherwise known as theft. Marc Adamus doesn’t do anything about this. Nothing! It’s his responsibility and obligation to protect the uniqueness of his portfolio, especially given his brazen boasts that his images are immediately recognizable (this is no longer true since there are so many illegal copies of his images).

Why doesn’t Marc Adamus protect his copyright? At Marc Adamus LIES 2.0, we’ve concluded that it is because Marc Adamus makes almost all his money from selling workshops, and because workshops are purchased by dishonest, shameless hacks like Kevin Mcneal (who primarily take workshops to copy compositions, since a general workshop cannot possibly teach anyone anything about art or photography), enforcing his copyright would mean Marc would sell fewer workshops.

The losers and frauds who practice copyright violation on Marc’s portfolio go on to steal compositions from many renown photographers. Art Wolfe, Ansel Adams, and Galen Rowell are popular targets, as are other photographers, dead or alive. This theft dramatically lowers the value of the original artist’s portfolio, since the thieving THUGS often practically give these stolen images away for free (Istockphoto or other microstock, paying publications to get “published”, giving images away for “publishing credits). There is no value created by this theft, but plenty of damage. Customers won’t see lower prices because THUGS sell stolen images for a quarter. IBM won’t lower the prices on its computers because it got some image for 25 cents, but the original photographer who had his image stolen has seen his income stolen from his fingers by a thieving LOSER. He might not be able to make his rent or feed his family because some 50-something LOSER/TERRORIST like Roman Johnston wanted to be “famous”.

2. Marc Adamus encourages creating lies & bullshit to promote your work

Marc Adamus has spun a complex fiction, in which he is a highly successful photographer who has been, and continues to be published everywhere. In additional to these lies, he also creates fantastic, impossible stories about so-called wilderness adventures. The majority of these stories are either outright inventions, contrived situations, or heavily exaggerated versions of reality.

When boneheads like Steve Sieren, Kevin Mcneal, Ryan Dyar, Aaron Reed, and Miles Morgan read these stories, their first impulse is to masturbate until “it’s” red & raw. Their second impulse is to make up bullshit stories of their own. Most of these losers create “mountains out of molehills”, exaggerating mundane hikes, snowshoes, etc into North Pole Expedition type monstrosities. On a side note, some advice: do not believe any of these stories, and avoid anyone who uses stories and bullshit to promote themselves. Real artists like Art Wolfe do not mix their adventures with their visions, preferring to document experiences in their books. Photography is promoted by the innate strength of the compositional elements in the image, never by bogus stories about the “creation” of said image.

3. Marc Adamus encourages the entry of non-artistic losers who already have careers.

Most of the losers who buy Marc Adamus workshops and photo tours are completely devoid of any semblance of artistic talent. That’s why they are buying a workshop or photo tour in the first place. A true artist does not require hand-holding to create his vision. None of the truly well-known photographic artists took these fake, general workshops and photo tours, the kind sold by Marc Adamus, Ryan Dyar, Aaron Reed, Kevin Mcneal/Adrian Klein, or hundreds of other imposters.

Instead, the usual clientele is money-flush losers, who have good jobs and good lives but want to “dabble” in the arts and be “famous”. The ease of digital photography, the ease of composition theft, and the siren call of Marc Adamus’ hand-holding workshops is simply irresistible to these scum. They come to his workshops in swarms, learn little to nothing, but come away with the desire to commit theft and fraud on the Internet. Stealing famous compositions and giving them away is the MO of these new terrorists, who harm America and cause jobs to be lost so they can “dabble” and “feel good about themselves”. They have no business being anywhere near anything artistic, and if it wasn’t for people like Marc Adamus duping them into photography, they would leave it alone.

4. Marc Adamus encourages the use
of excessive post-processing and unrealistic compositions which sells a dishonest vision to the public.
Compositionally, most Marc Adamus images might be described as “contrived” or “boring”. The real excitement is added through excessive post-processing and color manipulation. These is just dandy for THUGS and MORONS. They can’t be bothered with the patient waiting that defines the truly great landscape photographers. They want to be able to do a “weekend warrior” rush to Yosemite or wherever and be back in time to rush to their computer, Photoshop “the heck” (Steve Sieren) out of “their” images, and post them on whatever forum they happen to prefer. After which the waiting, member in hand, begins (comments and critiques welcome, remember?) Almost all Marc Adamus loving losers have adopted all or most of his dishonest post-processing/compositional philosophy, including all of the following:

1. Claiming that extensive and complicated image blends or “painting/blending” are required to “overcome” the inability of the camera to capture the scene as recorded by our “senses”.

2. The use of extremely long exposures as some sort of panacea (pretending that long exposures of otherwise ordinary subjects inputs a “magical” artistry to the composition in question).

3. Any mention of photography done only at the so-called “Golden Hour” or only at sunrise or sunset.

4. Any talk involving words such as “bold, dramatic, dynamic, ethereal”, or other meaningless words which are used to bamboozle and obfuscate.

5. Any claim that computer manipulation was required to make the image look as it looked when they photographed it.

6. Ridiculously colorful images accompanied by dubious disclaimers such as “great images are never the result of computers” (Mark Metternich) or weasel words such as “only minor tonality or color adjustments”.

All of these claims have one thing in common; they are all utterly dishonest and an attempt to deflect interrogation regarding the use of excessive computer manipulation. Any “photographer” making these claims should be avoided like the plague.

Part four of our analysis of the Marc Adamus Manifesto, “One way to Photograph North America”.

Part four of our analysis of the Marc Adamus Manifesto, “One way to Photograph North America”.

Part four  of our analysis of the Marc Adamus Manifesto, “One way to Photograph North America”.
See Part One here.  See Part Two here. See Part Three here.

INTRO:  At Marc Adamus LIES 2.0, we have to say that Marc Adamus has really outdone himself with his latest expose. We’re certain that a better example of empty boasts, flowery rhetoric, and outright bullshit won’t be found for some time (maybe ever). Since Marc Adamus just can’t help himself, the manifesto also contains a great number of lies, unsubstantiated boasts, and some useful information that casts a new light on who Marc really is. Part four of this multi-part series:

8. I awoke before dawn to clearing skies and striking views! There was new snow on the Glacier peaks in the distant and beautiful fall colors in the valleys below me. Within seconds of waking, I'm simultaneously brewing coffee on the back step of my rig and scouting around with camera, long lens and tripod in hand. I managed to come away with some pretty strong photos of the peaks catching the first light while sipping the brew. Naturally, instead of going back down the jeep trail the same way I came in, I decided it's best to see if I can't make a loop out of it by cutting down through the colorful Aspen on the other side of the plateau. This was the first fall color I'd seen this year, so the trip was particularly enjoyable until the trail started disintegrating when I neared what I thought would be the main road. It turned out that someone closed this entry/exit point to the plateau area many years ago by stringing a barbed-wire fence across, a mere 30 feet from the main drag. I spent the next three hours driving back over and around the way I came in and I take a few more Aspen shots and wanders on foot through the groves for my extra time.

“….Within seconds of waking, I’m simultaneously brewing coffee on the back step of my rig and scouting around with camera, long lens, and tripod in hand”: Within seconds of waking? Who does Marc think he’s talking to, a two year old? What a load of hogwash!

“….I managed to come away with some pretty strong photos of the peaks catching the first light while sipping the brew”:  No doubt this only took a few seconds too. Anyway, all of Marc’s photos are “pretty strong”, to say the least, in his own opinion.

“…..Naturally, instead of going back down the jeep trail the same way I came in, I decided it’s best to see if I can’t make a loop out of it by cutting down through the colorful Aspen on the other side of plateau”:  Wow! What an adventurer! He decided to make a loop out of it instead of going back the way he came!

“….It turned out that someone closed this entry/exit point to the plateau area many years ago by stringing a barbed-wire fence across, a mere 30 feet from the main drag”: Of course they did. It’s only the Indians’ own land, after all. We’re surprised that Marc didn’t simply cut the barbed wire and go through anyway. Don’t they know who He is?

9. I spent the next several days traveling around Glacier National Park and the surrounding areas in preparation of conducting my photo tour of the area. I use the word 'tour' and not 'workshop', because although I want my participants to ask questions and learn a great deal, I don't want to give the impression that our time will be spent in some kind of structured, sit-down, lecture-style, critique session in a classroom somewhere. I cannot bring myself to take that type of approach, even in the field. What matters most to me is the pursuit of the best photographic opportunities I can possibly show people and the means with which we go after them. When my group gathered near St. Mary Lake to begin, I promptly told everyone to throw away the itinerary I sent them. They were all camping, so lodging arrangements were a non-issue. I explained that you never know where the pursuit of nature and photography will lead. It is, above all else, a reaction to the immediate and ever-changing. If you cannot learn to keep a flexible travel schedule as a nature photographer, you will forever be at an extreme disadvantage.

“…in preparation of conducting my photo tour of the area”: Yes, the real way Marc makes his money, by conducting his photo tours/workshops/pyramid schemes.

“…I use the word “tour” and not “workshop” because although I want my participants to ask questions and learn a great deal…”:  Purely semantics. Marc actually did use the term “workshop” to describe his fraudulent tours, but he stopped that because Marc Adamus LIES 1.0 outed him. Of course, Marc wants his “participants” to ask questions, mostly about how great he is. Not questions like “can we see the original RAW files?”. He doesn’t care whether they learn or not (they will not learn anything because you cannot teach or learn artistic ability). All he cares about is the money they pay, which enables him to maintain the illusion.

“…I don’t want to give the impression that our time will be spent in some kind of structured, sit-down, lecture-style, critique session in a classroom somewhere.”: Utter bullshit. The actual skills that a workshop could teach, such as printing and technical lighting, require at least some time in a classroom. These so-called photo tours don’t teach anything and couldn’t possibly teach any skills.

“…I cannot bring myself to take that type of approach, even in the field”: Of course not. Not only does running a proper school require money and expertise, but Marc would be found out as a fraud right away when he couldn’t even explain how to use flash for creative photography, or gels, or any of the other things real creative artists use to get the image in the field.

“…What matters most to me is the pursuit of the best photographic opportunities I can possibly show people and the means with which we go after them.”: What matters to Marc Adamus is that he becomes Famous, no matter the cost. He’s essentially said this. Marc never shows people how he really gets his pictures, which is thru extensive Photoshop manipulation.

“…When my group gathered near St. Mary Lake to begin, I promptly told everyone to throw away the itinerary I sent them…”:  Smells like more bullshit. If Marc doesn’t operate by an itinerary, why did he send them one in the first place?

“…They were all camping, so lodging arrangements were a non-issue…”: Yes, of course. All of the losers, all of them, no doubt hardy outdoorsmen, there to suck Marc’s small penis, we mean learn about Wilderness and Photography from the Best of the Best.

“…I explained that you never know where the pursuit of nature and photography will lead…”: Yep. Could lead to fame if you lie enough. Marc knows all about that.

“…It is, above all else, a reaction to the immediate and ever-changing. If you cannot learn to keep a flexible travel schedule as a nature photographer, you will forever be at an extreme disadvantage…”: Actually, nature photography is about patience, above all. All real photographers know this. But Marc isn’t a real photographer. He wants his loser fans to believe that he can take 7 exposures in under 30 seconds, wake up, brew coffee, and walk around with his camera in the span of 5 seconds, and react instinctively to the opening alpenglow or the clearing of a storm. All total bullshit. All of it.

What sort of business practice does Marc Adamus’ activities resemble: A Pyramid Scheme!

Marc Adamus runs a Pyramid Scheme!

THUGS, MORONS, and Marc-loving LOSERS love to think that Marc Adamus is an extremely successful “photographer” who is published constantly in the world’s top publications. That is a lie, of course. Most of Marc Adamus’ money comes from selling fraudulent “photography workshops” and “photo tours”. Marc’s business practices resemble the famous pyramid scheme:

From Wikipedia:

A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves promising participants payment, services or ideals, primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme or training them to take part, rather than supplying any real investment or sale of products or services to the public. Pyramid schemes are a form of fraud.

1. Marc’s business depends on a constant influx of new idiots who buy photo tours/workshops. He makes almost no money from real photographic operations like selling images & prints. The idea is that Marc can train you to be a real professional photographer with one of his fake photo tours. This idea is preposterous. The only thing a fake photo tour can do is inspire morons to offer their own photo tours. The first hint of pyramid scheme-like operation.

2. Idiots who have taken Marc Adamus workshops are constantly promoting these workshops. This is almost certainly as a consequence of receiving payment or promotion from Marc Adamus. The second hint of pyramid scheme-like operation.

3. Marc does not supply any real products or services to the public. Except for the very occasional print sale or image licensing, Marc doesn’t accomplish anything that benefits the general public. The third hint of a pyramid scheme-like operation.

4. Pyramid schemes are a form of fraud. What Marc Adamus does is fraud. Offering fake workshops that can’t possibly turn anyone into a pro photographer is a form of fraud. The fourth hint of a pyramid scheme-like operation.

5. Marc Adamus’ business is simply unsustainable. Because he encourages copyright violation by allowing MORONS and LOSERS to freely copy Marc’s own compositions, Marc marginalizes himself in the stock & print world. His work already has a very small market due to its preposterous appearance. Throw in a whole bunch of LOSERS who have copied his images and offered them at even lower prices than Marc, and you’ve got a problem. The fifth hint of a pyramid scheme-like operation.

There are many similarities between Marc Adamus’ business and the typical pyramid scheme. This is not a mistake. The Marc Adamus type of business is the closest to a pyramid scheme that anyone involved in photography could approach. Anyone interested in emulating Marc Adamus is setting himself/herself up for complete & utter failure.

A response to some recent comments on the Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 blog

A response to some recent comments on the Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 blog

THUGS, MORONS, and Marc-loving LOSERS love to come over to the Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 blog and try their reverse-psychology bullshit. Here are some of their recent comments, and our response (we have reproduced all spelling & grammar errors, by the way):

1.  “Who’s big mouth is open here? And who’s foot is in it all the time? You people have no life. No hope. Nothing of your own and you won’t ever find peace or happiness on this Earth.”

This sad attempt at tearing down Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 is so pathetic that it hardly deserves a response. How could this idiot know anything about who’s behind Marc Adamus LIES 2.0?

2. “Just like everything else here, you just make up what you want an provide not one shred of proof of anything.”

We’ve provided numerous quotes from Marc Adamus, numerous links to stuff he has said, and so on. This outright invention must be coming from the minds of a delusional idiot who no doubt wants to suck Marc’s small penis.

3. “You sir, are awesome. Without such publicity who would Marc be anyway? Are you sure you are not actually Marc Adamus…”

Utterly stupid. Why would Marc Adamus create a website to draw attention to all of his faults and lies? This is a sad attempt to convince us that Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 isn’t working.

4.” Entertaining! Obviously the work of a complete madman, but yet still entertaining! Crazy people can definitely be funny in their own way.
Did you mention Marc was also the anti-Christ and feeds at night on the blood of children yet?”

We think the madman here is the loser who wrote this comment. Is it “crazy” to draw attention to fraud and deceit in business? Of course not. Yet there will always be detractors, usually with some stake in bashing the whistleblowers, who invent crazy theories to discredit people like us.

5. Mark has sold his images to enough prestigious publications around the world to make you jealous enough to spew lies like this, that’s for sure. His work has continuously appeared in the best of the best out there and you know it.

First of all, despite what this lying sack of shit thinks, “you know it” isn’t verifiable proof any Marc Adamus publication. Marc Adamus doesn’t sell images to any prestigious publications because these venues aren’t interested in his fake, Photoshopped garbage. And claiming that our work is motivated by “jealousy” is as ridiculous as claiming any other whistle-blowing is merely motivated by “jealousy”.

6. Your new site will be taken down. And every single site you ever create will be taken down. It will happen soon, so there’s no point in continuing the same homophobic garbage you started on the last site that you claim wasn’t you. It’s coming and you can’t avoid it. Sorry to break it to you.

First of all, Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 isn’t going anywhere. In fact, our host had only recently told Marc Adamus to take a hike (pun intended). As for Marc Adamus LIES 1.0 and the small amount of “homophobic” content that was present, we were not responsible for it, as Marc Adamus LIES 1.0 was run by someone else. Marc Adamus LIES 2.0 doesn’t actually contain a single reference to homosexuality at this time; this comment is a pure invention.

Part three of this multi-part series:

6. I carry with me a large black 'camp-box' which contains a disorderly mess of every accessory one might generally need while camping: a hatchet, stoves, coffee, a hex-wrench set, bear-spray, knifes, rope, batteries, fine-scotch and 2 to 5 lens caps that occasionally resurface only to be lost again seconds later. I also carry a tall food-box, cooler, 1 to 3 tents, backpacking pack, day pack, camera gear, 2 sleeping bags, an assortment of reading materials and various tools such as a shovel and saw on a rack above. My bed for every single night I am traveling and not in the backcountry is located in the rear drivers-side of the vehicle in my sleeping bag atop two Thermarest mattresses. Being only 5'6" tends to help considerably with this space arrangement.

“….I carry with me a large black ‘camp-box’ which contains a disorderly mess of every accessory one might generally need while camping”: A bullshit phrase designed to make Marc seem more human, especially with the use of adjectives such as “disorderly”.
“….Knifes”:  OK, just a really dumb spelling error we had to point out. Has Marc ever heard of “knives”?

“…..fine-scotch”:  Whatever this is supposed to really mean, Marc obviously intends to paint himself as living the “fine life” while out in the “middle of nowhere”. It’s a total crock of bullshit and entirely irrelevant to any narrative describing an experience in the wild.

“….an assortment of reading materials”: No doubt only the deepest philosophical “meaning of life” books for a bullshit artist like Marc.

“…1 to 3 tents”: Who cares how many tents Marc owns?

“…My bed for every single night I am travelling and not in the backcountry is located in the rear drivers-side of the vehicle in my sleeping bag atop two Thermaest mattresses.”: Since Marc is rarely anywhere that could be considered “backcountry”, this is his bed most of the time.

“…Being only 5’6” tends to help considerably with this space arrangement”: Did we mention that Marc is a small weenie with a small penis and the Napoleon Complex?

7. I arrived in the Blackfoot Nation lands near Glacier Park late that evening in the cold and rain. Never satisfied with campgrounds or camping-designated areas, I took off down an unmarked dirt road and then a jeep trail, bouncing through the mud, climbing in elevation, can't stop now, where is this leading, up, up, up. Wanderlust has taken hold, as usual, in the pursuit of a camping spot for the night. I came to this plateau just as the rain changed to snow and completely engulfed in fog. I notice the terrain is flat, half-open and has some really gnarly looking White Bark Pines.
"Looks like a nice spot," I think to myself. The road is probably not even on a map.

“…Never satisfied with campgrounds or camping-designated areas”: What a crock of shit. Who cares if Marc is or isn’t satisfied with “campgrounds”. In addition, what does Marc hope to gain by pretending that he dislikes developed campgrounds? Does he hope to paint himself as a wilderness lover? People who actually love wilderness always use developed camping spots when possible, so as to decrease damage to the area. Marc is a complete hypocrite!

“…I took off down an unmarked dirt road and then a jeep trail”:  Generally speaking, travelling off main roads (not to mention jeep trails) is strictly prohibited on Indian lands. Why would Marc care? He’s so full of himself that all he cares about is becoming Famous.

“…bouncing through the mud, climbing in elevation, can’t stop now, where is this leading, up, up, up”: Yes, we get it. Bullshit Artist Marc Adamus would have you believe that he can’t bear not camping in pristine areas, as high as possible, as cold as possible, and as remote as possible. All of which is a complete fabrication and a LIE. In addition, he violated Indian law by travelling off main roads and camping in undesignated areas.

“…Wanderlust has taken hold, as usual, in the pursuit of a camping spot for the night”: Again, a big line of stinking Bullshit. And we should mention again that Marc was trespassing on Indian land and deflowering their soil only so He could pretend to be obsessed about only camping in “remote” areas.

“…Looks like a nice spot,” I think to myself. The road is probably not even on a map.”: This is the essence of the bullshit artist that Marc Adamus really is. Not only was he violating tribal law by being there, trampling the soil with his “rig”, but he had to obsess about how “the road was not even on a map”. Who cares!

A Marc Adamus penis joke

A Marc Adamus penis joke

So when Marc Adamus first met his partner, "Annie", she told him, "I love needles!" So Marc whipped out his penis!
This joke is a courtesy of MarAdamusLIES.net.

Part two of our analysis of the Marc Adamus Manifesto, “One way to Photograph North America”.

Part two  of our analysis of the Marc Adamus Manifesto, “One way to Photograph North America”.

At Marc Adamus LIES 2.0, we have to say that Marc Adamus has really outdone himself with his latest expose. Part two of this multi-part series:

4. For me, the ability to share something of my travels with other people has always been of nearly equal importance as the travels themselves, particularly over recent years. It was a desire to share my backpacking and mountaineering endeavors that first interested me in photography when I was around twenty. I have volunteered to lead wilderness hikes since I was about the same age while working at a local mountain shop and I have designed every one of the hundreds of trips I have ever undertaken with friends. My friends have realized things don't often go exactly as planned, but we often have all the adventure we can take! Two weeks into my recent travels, folks participating in my photo-tour at Glacier National Park would realize this as well.

“….the ability to share something of my travels with other people has always been of nearly equal importance as the travels themselves, particularly over recent years”: Lie. All that’s important to Marc is that he becomes famous. Many losers and “photofrauds” say that they just want to “share” their “vision” with the rest of us.

“….it was a desire to share my backpacking and mountaineering endeavors that first interested me in photography when I was around twenty”:  Lie. No one cares about Marc’s “backpacking” endeavors, and he’s not a mountaineer and hasn’t had any mountaineering experiences of any sort.

“…..I have volunteered to lead wilderness hikes since I was about the same age while working at a local mountain shop”: Smells like bullshit. Are there even any mountain shops in Corvallis? Highly unlikely. And it is implausible that Marc was “leading” any “wilderness hikes”. When people want to hike somewhere in Oregon, they drive to the trailhead and hike. There is very little in this state that could be considered remote wilderness, and none of it anywhere close to Corvallis.

“….and I have designed every one of the hundreds of trips I have undertaken with friends”: Lie. Are we supposed to believe that Marc literally “designed” (whatever that means) and undertook “hundreds of trips” in the span of a couple years?

5. I loaded up and hit the road on a sunny 80-degree day and began the 10-hour drive to northern Montana in my expedition-modified rig, a Toyota FJ. The FJ is not all that large but it's extremely capable in any driving situation, which I regularly encounter in my sixty thousand mile-per-year schedule. My list of necessary equipment for three months of travels spanning from Alaska to Arizona is considerably smaller than one might imagine, though. To picture it, realize that I can actually sleep in the back of my vehicle at night and not have to take anything else out and set on the ground. I am very much a minimalist.”

“…..in my expedition-modified rig, a Toyota FJ”: What happened to the bumper-sticker adorned Subaru? A Toyota FJ is not exactly the vehicle of choice for “wilderness-loving” liberals such as Marc. And notice the careful use of rhetoric such as “expedition-modified” and “rig”.  We are assuming that the FJ is, of course, an automatic, and Marc still can’t drive a stick shift, like any real man can.

“…..I but it’s extremely capable in any driving situation, which I regularly encounter in my sixty-thousand mile per year schedule”: Meaningless claptrap. Who cares how many miles Marc drives? And who cares how capable the FJ is or isn’t? None of Marc’s so-called “adventures” actually require anything more capable than a pickup truck or the Subaru he used to drive.

“….to picture it, realize that I can actually sleep in the back of my vehicle at night and not have to take anything else out and set it on the ground”: Yes, we get it Marc. You’re short, have a small penis, but a big mouth.

“….I am very much a minimalist”: Except when you open your big mouth, of course.
